Course Description

This course enables students to perform certain basic management tasks on the AIX operating system. This includes managing devices, LVM, file systems, and user accounts. This course is the first of a sequence of two courses covering basic AIX management tasks. 

Objectives

• Use the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT) 
• Manage physical and logical devices
• Discuss the purpose of the Logical Volume Manager
• Perform logical volume and file system management
• Manage paging space
• Create and manage users and groups
• Set file and directory permissions to control access
